Dark Devotions is a Conspiratorial Horror/Survival RPG series created by Mykal Lakim and published by Dark Phoenix Publishing. Dark Devotions uses the L.I.F.E System and is a part of the Wastelands of Damnation roleplayings series. Dark Devotions introduces you, the player, to religion in the world of Damnation. Covering the major religions in the world reimagined with supernatural influence according to the mythos of the game, Dark Devotions spreads the reach of the darkness which infects the world of Damnation.
Dark Devotions: Shattered Dreams takes you, the player, into the world of Damnation and describes the world's most potent religions retelling their origins and following according to what mortals believe. Shattered Dreams is intended to give insight to the religious side of mortals as a supplement for those who wish to use Faith within the game. Shattered Dreams is seen as a stepping stone to Celestials: War of Ages Corebook as well as The Fallen Sourcebook.
Dark Devotions is played using the L.I.F.E. System (Live-Action In Fantasy Environment). In addition to the games' rules the most important thing to memorize are the mechanics, based on the numerical value of four. The game can be played with a 12 sided dice or the traditional method of Throwing Chops (Rock, Paper, Scissors) making gameplay simple and easy to understand. In December 2012, Dark Phoenix Publishing announced the release of a Tabletop variant as well as another LARP varant known as Infinity which would simplify the mechanics of the game to appease gamers who felt number crunching was too difficult.
Religion in DamnationEdit
For thousands of years humanity has pondered religion, worshipped many gods and godesses and even had severe lack of Faith. In Dark Devotions: Shattered Dreams we will explore the world's religions and shed light on the darkness, revealing how mortals believe and how to use their Faith (or lack of it) to benefit the character and broaden out mortal characters, especially those who would be targeted by Angels, Demons, Djinn or Hunters.
